Our client wanted to double the production capacity of the existing high value minor milk component extraction process. To accomplish this various changes were made in the process including changing older axial flow columns to new, more efficient radial flow columns. Other improvements were also incorporated including; more membrane/filter separation capacity, new brine recovery and a new powder reconstitution system.

Techo was contacted as a trusted partner by the client to work with them and the engaged consultants (Beca, Worley Parsons and Aurecon) to deliver the project. Since the project was already behind its projected start date at this point it was decided that delivering the project on an open book basis would be the best approach. Collaboratively a budget and scope of delivery was prepared for the client. Competitive pricing was sort from a range of contractors to ensure the client was getting value for money.

Once contractors had been selected and approved Techo was charged with turn-key mechanical, electrical and automation management and delivery of the new installation. The installation was managed under Techo's Ring Fence Health & Safety system.

Installation involved completely gutting the existing room and installation of the new process. Techo's input into the design of the new plant meant that it required less floor area than the old process did. The project was completed on a very tight timeline to meet the needs of a key overseas client. Both our client and their client were very happy with the successful delivery of the plant.
